The One Thing Every Summer Pool Party Needs (Trust Me on This)
When my son turned five, we wanted to celebrate with something simple, fun, and full of sunshine. We decided to host his birthday at our community HOA pool and invited neighbors, school friends, and their families to join us for a relaxed summer bash.
We kept decorations playful and low-key—colorful pool noodles lined the fence and added a pop of color without much effort. Plenty of fun food and cold drinks kept kids and adults happy (pizza, fruit kabobs, popsicles, and lemonade were a big hit).

But the real magic of the party?
We brought 12 big inflatable pool floats and threw them into the pool. That’s it. And it was game-changing.
Suddenly, the entire pool became a floating playground — kids climbed, raced, bounced, and giggled for hours. The floats gave everyone something to do, sparked imaginative games, and made the whole afternoon feel like a mini water park.
